Happy start(ish) of the new school year (we just got our listserv up and running)! For those of you not familiar with us, the Graduate Student Council is a representative body consisting of representatives from each graduate department of the University. We have four areas of focus:
We are excited to introduce the Student Advocacy Committee!
As part of our larger mission of expanding our advocacy efforts, GSC has begun forming a group of graduate students who are dedicated to advocating for other graduate students. More specifically, this advocacy work includes…We will pick our first travel award winner on October 10, so please submit applications before then! In response to student need, we have increased the number of travel awards we give out each semester! Please see the application for more information.
Tricia Rose Burt, a professional storyteller, will be putting on a short presentation/workshop. Dinner will be included. November 2 from 5:30-8:00 PM.
The first tailgate is Saturday, October 1st. The game starts at 11:00am so we will be serving food and drinks at 9:00am -11:00am. The second tailgate is Saturday, October 22nd. The game start time is still TBA on the schedule but like the rest we will be serving food and drinks two hours before the game starts until game time.

GSC has a block of reduced-price tickets for Rent on October 21st at 8PM. Tickets are $15 each for seats located in the Left Loge Middle (G-N) section. We are selling these on a first-come first-served basis (limited to 2 per graduate student). Purchase your tickets here (Rent Tickets)!
The Halloween social will take place on Friday, October 28th. There will be great music, food and drinks. Also show off your Halloween spirit by dressing up! The social will start at 9:00PM and run until midnight.

The graduate school is pursuing the idea of on campus graduate student housing. They would like to hold some student focus groups in order to get a sense of what students would like to see in such housing. These focus groups are geared towards second year or later students who understand Vanderbilt and Nashville. If you are interested in joining, please fill out an application by Tuesday, September 29th at 5PM.
